Corruption remains a major obstacle in regional governance, undermining public trust and affecting various sectors.
This was highlighted by Rundu Rural Constituency councillor Paulus Mbangu during the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) anti-corruption conference held on Tuesday in Rundu, Kavango East region.
Mbangu pointed to the lack of internal oversight mechanisms as a key factor that hampers the fight against corruption.
He argued tackling corruption in the region requires a multi-faceted approach that incorporates transparency, accountability, and citizens engagement.
He further highlighted that the best way to tackle corruption is to implement an e-procurement system as a matter of urgency to curb corruption, stating that e- procurement systems can make significant strides in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement processes.
