The Oshikoto Regional Council has allocated N$1.7 million towards the procurement of construction materials for the development of 100 toilets across its ten constituencies for the fiscal year 2023/2024 as part of its rural sanitation program.

This initiative aims to tackle sanitation challenges prevalent in rural areas and curb open defecation practices.

Petrus Nehale, the spokesperson for the regional council, outlined in an interview with Eagle FM that the current fiscal year’s plan includes the construction of ten toilets in each of the ten constituencies, with Tsumeb excluded as the focus remains on rural areas.
