The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform has announced that it has delivered nearly 298 additional tractors, supplementing the existing fleet of 194, across various crop-producing regions.
This move is aimed at addressing challenges faced by farmers across the country who are still dependent on traditional methods of ploughing such as using donkeys and oxen.
The Villager reported earlier this month that farmers, especially those in the Northern Communal Areas (NCA), have been struggling to prepare their fields for the current crop season due to the high cost of private tractors as well as health concerns and fatalities among oxens and donkeys, primarily attributed to drought conditions.
