Namibia experienced a 35.9% year-on-year (y/y) decrease in live cattle exports in October 2023, contrasting with a substantial 179.2% y/y surge in beef exports.
The European Union emerged as the primary destination, trailed by South Africa and the United Kingdom, according to Simonis Storm Securities.
During the same period, live sheep exports reached 38,669 heads, while sheep meat exports soared by 215% y/y, totaling 39 tons.
Goat live exports witnessed a 16.7% y/y decline, with no live pig exports since May 2023. Goat marketing faced a 17.0% dip in October 2023, correlating with the decrease in goat exports.
Cattle marketing declined by 24.6% y/y and 32.9% m/m. Contrarily, the sheep sector marked a robust rebound, with a 95.6% y/y surge in marketing, fueled by a 147.8% increase in live sheep exports.
