Presidential hopeful and Swapo’s second in command Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah wants the government to start investing into research to maximise its potential economic benefits from various projects including green hydrogen, and recent oil and gas discoveries.
She said investments into research will help Namibia drive its developmental agenda effectively.
She made these remarks when she addressed a Swapo rally held in Windhoek last Saturday.
At that event, Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed the need to generate ideas and expand the body of knowledge across various sectors.
She expressed concern that Namibia risks falling behind in the rapidly advancing world of high technology if the government fails to prioritise investments into research and vocational education and training to keep pace with technological progress.
