PRESIDENT Hage Geingob has urged African countries to work together more to create a unified energy market.
According to Geingob, a healthy and strong energy mix is necessary to grow African economies and fulfil the needs of people.
Geingob, while speaking at the ongoing African Energy Week in Cape Town, South Africa, stated that the goal is to transform Africa from a continent that simply supplies raw materials to one that actively uses its own resources, including energy, for development.
African Energy Week (AEW) is an annual event hosted by the African Energy Chamber that brings together African energy leaders, global investors, and executives from the public and commercial sectors for four days of discussion on the future of the African energy industry.
Over 5,000 delegates are gathering in South Africa under the theme “The African Energy Renaissance: Prioritising Energy Poverty, People, Planet, Industrialization, and Free Markets.”
