1. Labour minister Utoni Nujoma has warned that government is under no obligation to pay any public servant planning to strike. At the back of it education ministry executive director Sanet Steenkamp has announced that schools will be closed on 28 and 29 July.
This, as more than 100,000 government employees, including teachers, will vote on Thursday and Friday whether to strike or not.Government and the bargaining unions reached a deadlock for a 10 per cent pay raise across the board.

2. Swapo party youth league (SPYL)’s secretary for education, Hofni Iipinge, has proposed making Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) studies a compulsory subject in lower grades curriculum.

3. The World Health Organization (WHO) Namibia together with the health ministry hold a universal health coverage sensitization meeting in Windhoek.

4. Police inspector general Sebastian Ndeitunga says it is a concern to note that the Namibian police force holding cells are heavily congested, making it difficult for police to conduct their duties.
Ndeitunga said this during the senior command conference for the Namibian police force that is being held in the Kavango East.

5. Environment and tourism minister Pohamba Shifeta today officially opens the 4th Africa Youth in Tourism Summit and Challenge 2022. The youth in tourism summit started today and will conclude on 29 July.

6.Deputy health minister Ester Muinjangue says Namibia recorded 679 suicide cases between January 2021 and May 2022. Of these cases 650 are adults and 29 are children. Muinjangue said this during the Khomas Suiside Prevention Taskforce (KSPT) conference this morning, in Windhoek.

7. Namibia this morning sent off its special Olympic female football team to the United States of America to compete in the Unify Football Sport Championship. The team will depart on 29 of July for the Unified Cup 2022, which brings together over 300 footballers from over 20 countries to compete in football, the world’s most popular sport. Namibia will be sending a team of 11 and six officials to the championship.
