Those who have been listening to President Hage Geingob over the years can attest that he is one of the most uninspiring speakers Namibia has ever had as a leader.
It is not about his sad tone and voice that comes with no morning brilliance, but even his facial expressions and body language do not align with what he says.
In short, I am saying that President Hage Geingob is not charming. He is boring and uninspiring. His speeches make it worse because they cause distress, alarm, and despondency.
President Hage Geingob should not be sent to talk to investors because he does have a negotiator’s demeanour.
Seriously though, President Hage Geingob needs a new script that sends out a different message. The old script has outlived its importance. The message has been overtaken by time.
The President needs a new script. He has been reading the same script ever since he went to State House in 2015. The narrative about people being lifted from poverty and patriotism is just fine.
But honestly, that narrative does not yield many emotions anymore. That narrative has been told several times. Namibia has had droughts all the time. That narrative, too, does not mean much.
Namibia should not be caught in the stagnation of time. Talking about the past is an excellent thing, but we would have failed when we use the past to justify our failures.
