This past Saturday saw the laying to rest of the Ovaherero’s paramount chief, Vekuii Rukoro, at the Okahandja ceremonial graveyard where chiefs from the Ovaherero are laid to rest.

In videos seen on whatsapp, the social media platform, a considerably large gathering of mourners are witnessed alongside the procession of Rukoro’s honour guard. Lack of social distancing becomes a concern when you view these clips of footage.

The question comes to mind – ‘How will this be controlled or policed?’ – since this was the burial of a traditional leader, considering the prevalence rate of infection in the country, which on average is approximately 944 new infections per day in our pandemic according to Reuters and their data analysis.
